Franco Corelli, one of the great tenors of the twentieth century, has died in Milan at 82. Corelli made his La Scala debut in La Vestale with Maria Callas. His debut at the Metropolitan Opera was as Manrico in the landmark and storied performance of Il Trovatore that was also the house debut of the incomparable Leontyne Price.
