A remarkable exhibition opened last week at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and will remain in Philadelphia until late August. The show American Sublime: Epic Landscapes of Our Nation, 1820-1880 was mounted at the Tate Gallery in London to popular success and to critical applause, with reservations.
