We must pray without tiring, for the salvation of mankind does not depend on material success; nor on sciences that cloud the intellect. Neither does it depend on arms and human industries, but on Jesus alone.



Today is the memorial of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, founder of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, patroness of emigrants and displaced persons, of orphans, of immigrants, and of hospital administrators, the first citizen of the United States to be canonized. She is one of the heroic saints of New York depicted on the great bronze doors of St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan.
