The second Synod of Orange convened on this date in 529. The forces of orthodoxy were led by Caesarius of Arles and the synod upheld the views of Saint Augustine on grace and free will against lingering Pelagian and semi-Pelagian beliefs.



The arguments, of course, are still with us.
