We celebrate today the feast of St. Benedict, father of western monasticism and one of the patrons of Europe. The example, organization and Rule of Saint Benedict make him one of the towering figures in the history and development of Western Civilization.

The Order of Saint Benedict has through the almost 1500 years since the founding of The Abbey of Monte Cassino provided a home for men and women alive with what Dom Jean Leclercq O.S.B. described as The Love of Learning and the Desire for God.
