Kurt Brobeck at Sainteros considers a temptation to pride and, as he sometimes does, uses as a focus of reflection a passage from the notebooks of Dag Hammarskjöld.



To be pure of heart means, among other things, to have freed yourself from all such half-measures: from a tone of voice which places you in the limelight, a furtive acceptance of some desire of the flesh which ignores the desire of the spirit, a self-righteous reaction to others in their moments of weakness.



Kurt is spending some time pondering the virtue of humility, as Kairos, Fr. Jim Tucker at Dappled Things and Steven Riddle at Flos Carmeli have also recently done.



I'm feeling more and more abashed for having used the word as part of the weblog description.
