The programs are a great deal more than the morning's background murmuring and have become integral to the daily routine of my weekdays. Quite different in their approach and presentation. Different in their theology. But earnest, committed and serious in their devotion to the Word. So I've learned from both radio shows: Pastor Joe Focht of Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia on Straight From the Heart and the late Dr. James Montgomery Boice of Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia on The Bible Study Hour.



By a coincidence of program scheduling, both are at present preaching on Genesis. Pastor Joe is deep in the narrative of that great and sympathetic figure Joseph. Dr. Boice is expounding some of the implications of the opening words of Sacred Scripture, the words that search our heart and need no drum or trumpet to be made more dramatic:



In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.



And we think on that creation, the vastness of its extent and the beauty of its design. And we say with the Psalmist: O LORD, how great are thy works!
